SUMMARY:GLOBE SOUND HEALING CONFERENCE
DESCRIPTION:Researchers\, Pioneers\, Instructors\, Doctors\, Sound Therapists\, and Musicians in the field of Sound Healing\nGood Balance of Sound Healing Science\, New Technologies experiential workshops and Concerts. \nwww.soundhealingcenter.com/conference \nBio-guided Music Therapy with Native Flute Biofeedback and Vocal Toning\nEric and Lynn Miller \nIn this session we will introduce fundamental concepts of Bio-guided Music Therapy with a focus on utilizing real-time physiological data with Native Flute biofeedback. We will also introduce vocal toning as a modality for internal Neuromodulation. \nNeuromodulation is the ability to change the nervous system through an externally\, or internally applied modality. Toning can be considered one of the most natural and direct tools for neuromodulation since it uses the voice\, an instrument of the body. Toning is intentional vocal sounding for the purposes of relaxation\, meditation\, prayer\, self-expression\, emotional release and/or pain reduction. A single study brain map\, of the presenter\, will reveal changes in brain wave patterns while toning. \nVia demonstration\, we will create musical environments with vocal toning and Native Flute melodies triggered by real-time physiological measures of heart-rate\, GSR and EEG brainwaves. \nTarget disorders: anxiety\, high blood pressure\, ADHD\, Autism\, depression\, and addictions.

SUMMARY:SpiritVoice: Retune your Life with your Voice
DESCRIPTION: “To enter into the initiation of sound\, of vibration and mindfulness\, is to take a giant step toward consciously knowing the soul.” — Don G. Campbell \nWe will use our voices to cultivate personal power and express our inner music. The Inner and outer voice will be explored to develop tools in re-tuning our lives through embodying our voice. Re-tuning will be through the body\, toning\, energy meditations and light transmissions\, vocal improvisation\, chants\, finding comfort with unknown and transmuting fears in a safe and fun environment with Music therapist Lynn Miller MA and Sound healer\, Janey Butterworth MSW.             \n   If you can talk\, You can sing. All welcome\, no matter level of experience. \nYou will also experience a vibrational treatment with a 50-string Sound bed for deep relaxation and we’ll enhance our singing with world instruments. read more.. \n \nSinging opens the throat chakra\, the center for self-expression both physically and metaphysically as it is the area connecting the heart to the head. It allows us to express our needs\, wants and what we feel. When our voice is ignored or censored it can shut down parts of our self. It is important that WE SING! The voice of the Divine Feminine wants to emerge and must be be heard if we are to bring balance to Earth and all of her broken systems. This beautiful voice of the Divine Feminine\, the Sacred Mother\, brings healing\, acceptance\, reconciliation and repair. It comes through all of us with joy and ease when our throat chakra is awakened. \n The Healing Arts Studio is in the heart of Phoenixville. There are hiking trails\, gift shops and many restaurants. If traveling\, contact Lynn for suggested accommodations.  Call or email for additional information about the workshop. \nSuggested reading: SpiritArts\, Transformation through Creating Art\, Music and Dance \nLynn Miller MA\, author of SpiritArts\, Transformation through Creating Art\, Music and Dance is a music therapist\, artist and sound healer. SUMMARY:The Art and Science of Music and Healing
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE \nEARLY BIRD EXTENDED ($70/includes lunch) < also sliding scale if needed! \nWith Music therapists\, Eric and Lynn Miller and Yuri Yamamoto \nThe arts have been used as a healing tool since ancient times. Arts rituals were experienced communally; used as a container and structure for facing fears\, doubts\, suffering as well as for celebration and connection with something greater than self. Today\, music is being used therapeutically worldwide in hospitals\, institutions and for self-healing and spiritual connection. Latest research shows that the arts are a means for long-term neuro-cognitive change. \nIn this workshop\, we will combine community music making\, neuroscience information and biofeedback experiences to explore: \n\nImportance of connection through music\nHow to play music for fun\, health and well-being\nHow the mind alone can influence physiology (importance of thoughts for healing).\nHow to use the power of the voice for healing (neurological developments on voice and healing)\nBrain jamming\, with biofeedback\n\nThrough a fun humanistic approach\, participants will develop skills in creating music “in the moment”\, through Improvisational (Mindfullness) techniques. Mindfulness is non-judgmental moment- to -moment attention to what is happening\, which creates presence. Being present\, changes perspectives from negating thoughts to well-being. These skills will be explored using movement\, voice and instruments. Therapeutic effects of music created through Mindfullness techniques include: \n\nCreative self-expression\nStress Reduction\nEnhanced Spiritual connection\nEmotional expression\nConnection with others – collaboration\nIncreased Spontaneity and Resilience (generalizes to other situations)\nSelf-Realization\, connection with deeper part of self\n\nEvidenced based studies and experiential understanding will demonstrate how our physiology changes from stress to relaxation and our mind changes from fear to inspiration through Music and Mindfullness. \nThis workshop does not require any previous experience in creating music. World instruments will be available to play and bring your own. All instruments welcomed! \nREGISTER HERE    $70.  /   lunch included!   (earlybird extended)\n \n  \nThe presenters: \nLynn Miller MA\, is the author of SpiritArts\, Transformation through Creating Art\, Music and Movement\, which is a culmination of her experience in Arts and Healing. Lynn is a certified music therapist who is also trained in Expressive arts therapy. She has been an adjunct faculty member in music therapy at Immaculata University in PA. \nDr. Eric Miller\, Ph.D. biofeedback therapist and board-certified music therapist is author of Bio-guided Music Therapy (2011) Jessica Kingsley Publishers. He serves as Coordinator for the Ott Lab for Music & Health at Montclair University in the Music Therapy Department. \nTogether the Millers co-authored\, a book chapter:  The Use of Music for Neuromodulation. In Evans\, J. R.\, & Turner\, R. (Eds.)\, Rhythmic Stimulation Procedures in Neuromodulation.. Amsterdam: Academic Press.(2017). The Millers are faculty for Flute Haven\, a Native American flute school. Retired faculty (20 years) for Music for People\, an organization dedicated to music improvisation with the philosophy that music is for everyone.\n \n \nAlso\, Join us on Sunday Nov. 12th 11-12pm at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh. Lynn and Eric Miller will perform at the service with trombonist Harold McKinney. They will work with the choir and Yuri Yamamoto (music director) to create a special musical program to support the service (including musical participation with the congregation).

SUMMARY:The Art and Science of Music and Healing
DESCRIPTION:With Music therapists\, Eric and Lynn Miller and Yuri Yamamoto \nThe arts have been used as a healing tool since ancient times. \nIn this workshop\, we will combine community music making\, neuroscience information and biofeedback experiences to explore: \n\nHow to play music for fun\, health and well-being\nHow the mind alone can influence physiology (importance of thoughts for healing).\nHow to use the power of the voice for healing (neurological developments on voice and healing)\nBrain jamming\, with biofeedback\n\nThrough a fun humanistic approach\, participants will develop skills in creating music “in the moment”\, through Improvisational (Mindfullness) techniques. Mindfulness is non-judgmental moment- to -moment attention to what is happening\, which creates presence. Being present\, changes perspectives from negating thoughts to well-being. These skills will be explored using movement\, voice and instruments. Therapeutic effects of music created through Mindfullness techniques include: \n\nCreative self-expression\nStress Reduction\nEnhanced Spiritual connection\nEmotional expression\nConnection with others – team building – collaboration\nIncreased Spontaneity and Resilience (generalizes to other situations)\nSelf-Realization\, connection with deeper part of self\n\nEvidenced based studies and experiential understanding will demonstrate how our physiology changes from stress to relaxation and our mind changes from fear to inspiration through Music and Mindfullness. \nThis workshop does not require any previous experience in creating music. \nLynn Miller and Yuri Yamamoto\, vocalists\, will have you singing from your soul. Lynn (guitarist) and Yuri (pianist) will accompany you and demonstrate simple accompaniment skills. Eric Miller will have you jamming and grooving. He plays the guitar and mandolin. Bring an instrument and/or your voice. We will have some easy to play world instruments to share.

Improvisation entails deep listening to the sounds of our voices or instruments and being guided by the sound\, which helps take us out of our thinking mind or “the critic” that often impedes our process. When we are present with the music\, we go into a “flow state.” The Millers will provide tools to help facilitate music from the inside out\, including techniques from SpiritArts and Music for People (MFP). Bring your voice or instrument for this experiential workshop.\nLynn Miller is the author of SpiritArts\, Transformation Through Creating Art\, Music\, and Movement\, which is a culmination of her experience in arts and healing. She is on the faculty for Music for People\, an international improvisational music training program founded by Grammy award-winning cellist\, David Darling. Lynn is also on the staff for Flute Haven Native Flute School\, a humanistic educational approach to developing Native flute skills. Lynn is a certified music therapist who is also trained in sound healing and expressive arts therapy. In this experiential presentation\, we will explore and internalize practical ways to practice compassionate presence for others and ourselves. Presenting a view that weaves together contemplative practice\, science\, and hands-on experience\, Kirsten DeLeo will offer a framework that will enable you to stay present with others while remaining open\, spacious\, and centered in yourself.\nIn leading seminars and retreats for professionals and the public in North and South America and Europe\, Kirsten draws on more than 20 years of experience in accompanying terminally ill people and their families. She is on the faculty of “Contemplative End-of-Life Care\,” a professional certificate program launched at Natrona University in 2003. SUMMARY:Music for People Improv Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:New Jersey Social Workers Conference Evening Program  Borgato Hotel\, Atlantic City\, NJ\nA special presentation by Lynn Miller and Lynn Saltiel with the Music for People Improv Orchestra \nMusic for People (MFP) was founded in 1988 by David Darling and Bonnie Insull as a nonprofit organization that promotes self-expression through music improvisation and the creative arts. MFP was founded on the belief that music is a natural creative expression available to everyone. MFP acts as a catalyst in gathering people together to play and sing by creating a safe environment in which they can explore musical expression. All styles of music are celebrated and players of all levels of experience and all walks of life are welcomed. “It is not music for the sake of performance\, it is music for the sake of human development and potential and growth.”\n(Mary Knysh\, MLP Chairperson). \nMusic for People Improv Orchestra is an improvisational orchestra which includes vocalists\, storyteller and an array of traditional world instruments. The members create “music in the moment” with audience participation included. It is the use of music as a medium for self-expression\, for communication\, for a better understanding of how to be with others in sound and in relationship\, which in turn creates stronger communities. \n
