SUMMARY:Turtle Moon Native American Flute Circle
DESCRIPTION:Flute Jamming\n\nThe Turtle Moon Native Flute Circle presents Eric and Lynn Miller for a fun exploratory excursion with the Native flute. The Miller’s\, both guitarists\, love backing up flute players for free expression from the heart. They have many years of experience facilitating improvisation skills with the philosophy that music is for everyone. They will guide the group with simple structures that enhance playing with others.\n\nLynn’s forte is singing with the flute. There will be an exploration on how the voice can be incorporated with the flute.  Eric’s forte is music and the brain. He has developed a Biofeedback program that utilizes sounds from the Native flute. After someone is “hooked up”\, their brain will drive the pitch and melody of the sounds. Participants will have the opportunity to jam with the sounds generated from their partner’s brain. WOW! Bet you never did that before.\nThis event is held at the Historic Bern Church near Blue Marsh Lake\n3196 Bernville Rd. Leesport\, PA 19533\n\n\n Music therapists\, Eric and Lynn Miller are experts in music improvisation. They are founders of JamHaven\, a fun workshop applying improvisational structures for musicianship and playing with others. They have also been on staff with FluteHaven and Music for People\, which utilize improvisational models for music making. The Millers are authors. Eric wrote BioGuided Music Therapy and Lynn\, SpiritArts\, Transformation through Creating Art\, Music and Dance. They have both taught Music therapy at the University level and have shared their facilitation skills in India\, Mexico\, Italy\, France\, Canada\, Japan\, Korea and across the US.    www.Jamhaven.com

SUMMARY:Sacred Chant\, Sacred Name
DESCRIPTION:You are a wonderful note in the Song of the Universe. Our voice is sacred. Do not be afraid to sing. Your voice is your soul’s expression. It has it’s own signature\, no one has a voice like you. As each one of us “tunes in” and “tunes up” we collectively create harmony in the symphony of the earths song. \n  \nWe have all been given a magical word\, our name. Our name is sacred as it holds energy of our essence\, challenges and expansion for our lifetime. We will explore this energy and the sounds in our names through chant\, vowels\, consonants and rhythmic patterns. This will give us a foundation and inspiration for our own personal chant. \n  \nFun exercises to restore childlike spontaneity and creativity will be utilized. Once each simple sound structure has been modeled\, you will be invited to delve into the sacred sounds of your name. The Indian shruti box\, monochord and frame drum will support and accompany your sound explorations. Skills will be demonstrated on creating your personal chant. A melody will appear inspired from the sound name journeying. Our soul chant will enhance the orchestra of the Song of the Earth. \n  \nSome benefits include: \n\nCreative self- expression\nFeeling comfort with our voice\nDeep listening skills\nSOUL liberation through sounding

SUMMARY:Singing Medicine and Chakra Balancing
DESCRIPTION:Exercises with the SpiritArts 4-step process will open pathways for healing the energy consciousness centers. Chakra balancing will be enhanced through Eden Energy Medicine postures\, chakra toning\, chant\, and vocal play. \nChakra Balancing\nTo be in the moment\, deeply listen and be a clear channel for spirit\, it is important to keep our energy centers\, or chakras\, fine-tuned.\nThe chakras are spinning energy wheels located from the base of the spine to the top of the head. They are responsible for distributing energy going in and out of the body. They manage our life force energy for mental\, emotional\, physical\, creative\, and spiritual functions. \nToning is a powerful way to move energy through the chakra. Our voice is the most healing instrument of all. Unlike other instruments\, it has consciousness and is the instrument of the body. The vibration of the tone creates an internal massage. Through toning\, mental\, physical\, and emotional blocks can open through sound vibrations. When the throat chakra is blocked\, all of the other energy centers become congested. Toning and singing can open the 5th chakra helping us to speak and live our truth. \nEnergy is the foundation for the health of the mind and body. Once the energy centers are clear we are open for spontaneity\, creativity\, and vocal play. Creativity is an integral part of every individual’s ability to live a fulfilled life. \n$33. virtual event \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:Harmony through the 6 Healing Sounds
DESCRIPTION:In this class we will learn Chinese Medicine\, 6 Healing Sounds\, used to harmonize the emotional\, physical and spiritual body. We will also learn some Eden Energy postures to stimulate the vagus nerve and balance the nervous system while making the sounds. SpiritArts 4/step process will be incorporated for more flow\, free play and fun as we will improvise with these sounds and others for connection and creativity. \n6 Healing Sounds\nThrough specific sound vibrations\, the six healing sounds support the healing of our emotions as well as detoxify and strengthen our organs. The sound vibrations clear energy patterns in the nervous system. In traditional Chinese medicine emotions and physical health are connected in a loop where emotions impact the health of the body and vice versa just like the vagus nerve. \nVagus Nerve\nThe vagus nerve is the mind/body connector\, as it communicates bi-directionally from the brain to the belly including branches to the organs in between. It helps regulate most bodily functions necessary for our health and emotional well-being. It regulates the nervous system and oversees immune response\, digestion\, and heart rate. It is a main component of the parasympathetic nervous system. Vagal tone regulates stress responses and can be influenced by breathing and singing. \nEnergy Medicine\nEnergy is the foundation for the health of the mind and body. Energy can become stagnant or unbalanced. Through tapping and massaging specific meridian points energy can move. \nI look forward to sharing this ancient knowledge\, which has so many benefits if practiced regularly. In these times\, we need tools and practices to help us stay in balance and free play to keep us joyful. \nVirtual event: $33. \nRegister Here

This includes vocal relaxation exercises\, sounds to harmonize the body/mind and sounding for self-expression\, creativity and connection. \nThe voice is the instrument of the body\, expressing who we are and what we feel. It is the center of our well-being. Emotionally\, singing is a vehicle to express emotions\, socially it gives us a sense of belonging and spiritually connects us to our soul and something larger than ourselves. Singing also stimulates the Vagus nerve promoting nervous system relaxation. The Vagus is a communicator to the mind/body through the heart\, gut\, brain connection. \nEnergy is the foundation for the health of the mind and body. Singing moves energy or Chi through the breath and vibrations. While toning\, we will tap specific Energy Medicine points\, supporting the vagus nerve to promote calm and ease. When we get out of the way\, spirit can move through us\, opening up our creativity and inspiration. \nThe Kotamo (a hybrid instrument combining the Indian tanpura\, Japanese Koto and Monochord) will accompany our voices for a portion of the program. The mics will be turned off for your privacy of sound exploration. Once the voice is opened\, we will move to break-out rooms to connect in small groups\, for fun vocal play to nourish the soul. Sing for your health by freeing the voice! \nVocal Vagal Benefits: \n\nRelease inhibitions\nPromote wellness and manage stress\nDiscover Energy Medicine points and Vagal tone stimulation\nExpress creative self\nEnhance spiritual connection

SUMMARY:Cultivating Neuro-Connections using the Expressive Arts
DESCRIPTION:During these stressful times\, many of us seek for higher spiritual needs and cultivate such practices to navigate through life however\, without consciously knowing it\, we find that we often get “hijacked” by our nervous systems’ responses to perceived threat or danger and once again find ourselves feeling disconnected from ourselves and significant others in our lives. Does this sound familiar to you? \nIn this workshop\, we will review ground breaking Polyvagal science in an experiential & playful way. This approach offers practical “in the present moment” tools to learn how to tune in and listen to our nervous system responses as communicated through internal cues. Participants will be encouraged to notice their own direct experiences of physiological responses through deep listening using SpiritArts (Lynn Miller) process of awareness through breath\, body\, heart and deep listening. \nThough arts processes\, we will each have the opportunity to prepare a personal map of the 3 states of our autonomic nervous system (safety\, fight or flight\, and shutdown). Skills to change the brain through re-patterning the nervous system will be guided by explorations using vocal sound\, movement\, music & imagery\, journaling\, visual art & collage. These tools will be used to engage and strengthen the part of our nervous system which creates an internal experience of safety\, curiosity and connection. \nIn a nutshell……Lynn and Sue will safely guide you through an embodied approach with Arts processing to explore: \n\nHow your nervous system is making you feel out of control\, scattered\, anxious\nFun Brain-training skills\, that signal the brain that you’re safe (transform stress to calm)\nThe importance of relationship (connection to yourself and others) to not only heal but to function at new levels of possibility!\nWays to develop a practice of safely navigating your inner terrain on a daily basis\n\nTHE WORKSHOP IS $75. with advanced registration and $90. at the door \nThe presenters: \n\n\n\nSue Mistretta MA holds a degree in Counseling Psychology and has trained at the Southeastern Institute for Music Centered Psychotherapy and specializes in Expressive Arts Processes and is a Fellow with the Association of Music and Imagery. Over the past year\, Sue has recently become fascinated with Somatic Therapy and trauma work. She has attended workshops such as Somatic Experiencing\, and self study with experts in the field (i.e. Stephen Levine\, Dana). Additionally\, She will be completing a certification program in Relational Somatic Therapy in Spring of 2020. Sue has been in private practice since 1997 and offers workshops at the Hand and Soul Wellness Center and at the Healing Arts Center in PA for 20 years. \nLynn Miller MA is a music therapist with a private practice in Music therapy and Sound Healing. She is the author of SpiritArts\, Transformation through Creating Art\, Music and Dance\, which is a culmination of her experiences with art and healing. She co-authored\, a book chapter\, Music and Neuromodulation\, in Rhythmic Stimulation Procedures in Neuromodulation\, Evans\, published by Elsevier (2017). \nLynn is a faculty member for Flute Haven Native Flute School and was a faculty member for Music for People for 18 years. SUMMARY:Jam Haven
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nPlay music and sing from your heart while learning to improve your listening and improvisational skills no matter what instrument you play! You will surround yourself with other creative souls in one of the world’s most beautiful cities. \nDr. Eric Miller\, Lynn Miller\, MA of SpiritArts and Janey Butterworth MSW\, invite you to a three day musical intensive in San Miguel de Allende\, Mexico\, -Jam Haven! \nCOME JAM WITH US! There is magic in the air in San Miguel\, built on a crystal bed in the mountains. This town is known for its synchronicity\, magic and creativity! \nMusic therapists Eric and Lynn Miller have over 20 years experience in facilitating musicianship skills no matter what instrument or level of experience you are. Janey is a master in Sound Healing and soul singing. They will take you on a musical journey discovering your own inner music and skills in playing with others. \nThis will be the first ever Jam Haven\, with activities and instruction geared  to help improve your jamming\, musicianship and improvisational skills. Musicians will be invited to go out into the community of the artistic haven of San Miguel de Allende\, MX to play in restaurants and on the streets. San Miguel attracts musicians from around the world who might want to join us! You can also support others by being a witness. \nThis vibrant community is in Colonial Mexico\, north of Mexico City. It was discovered in the 1960’s by American and Canadian artists who have continued to flock to the area to express their creativity through painting\, drawing\, writing\, dancing and music. The city of San Miguel has preserved its architectural beauty with buildings dating back to the 1500’s. It was chosen as a Unesco World Heritage site and was named the most beautiful city in the world in 2016. It is considered a very safe place to travel. \nJam Haven will be held at Casa Carly\, a lovely hotel comprised of seven separate casitas surrounding a courtyard and community activities room. Events will be held in the activities room with 2 pianos. In the mornings\, there will be opportunities to play together impromptu in the casita or courtyard or visit local sites. Casa Carly is in walking distance of Fabrica Aurora\, the Art Center comprised of many thriving art galleries. It is also an easy walk to the Guadalupe neighborhood known for its organic grocery store\, restaurants and many vibrant murals. \nThis event will be held March 9 and 10\, 2019 with a welcoming event the evening of March 8. San Miguel is a very busy tourist area\, especially during the first three months of the year. \nThree day workshop fee is $150. Full time students $99. Rooms at Casa Carly range approx from $85 to $100 per night plus tax. Several rooms are large enough to share. All rooms have a kitchenette and couches. Visit http://www.casacarlysanmiguel.com/ to book your room directly. Be sure to let them know you are with JamHaven! Contact us if looking to share a room. If you are looking for a roommate\, post on Lynn’s Spiritarts FB page or backchannel us by email. RESERVE ROOM BY DEC 15th! \nThis fun and creative event is not to be missed! \nWe urge you to sign up for Jam Haven as soon as possible as spaces are limited and the hotel will fill very quickly – only 5 casitas!. \nUpon registration\, more information about flights and ground transportation will be available. You can fly into Mexico City but Leon or Queretarro airports are preferred as they are closer. We will send information on door to door shuttles. It is actually quite easy and safe to come to San Miguel. \nWE HOPE TO HEAR YOU AND MAKE MUSIC WITH YOU!!
