Cultivating Neuro-Connections using the Expressive Arts
September 22, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm
$75.00During these stressful times, many of us seek for higher spiritual needs and cultivate such practices to navigate through life however, without consciously knowing it, we find that we often get “hijacked” by our nervous systems’ responses to perceived threat or danger and once again find ourselves feeling disconnected from ourselves and significant others in our lives. Does this sound familiar to you?
In this workshop, we will review ground breaking Polyvagal science in an experiential & playful way. This approach offers practical “in the present moment” tools to learn how to tune in and listen to our nervous system responses as communicated through internal cues. Participants will be encouraged to notice their own direct experiences of physiological responses through deep listening using SpiritArts (Lynn Miller) process of awareness through breath, body, heart and deep listening.
Though arts processes, we will each have the opportunity to prepare a personal map of the 3 states of our autonomic nervous system (safety, fight or flight, and shutdown). Skills to change the brain through re-patterning the nervous system will be guided by explorations using vocal sound, movement, music & imagery, journaling, visual art & collage. These tools will be used to engage and strengthen the part of our nervous system which creates an internal experience of safety, curiosity and connection.
In a nutshell……Lynn and Sue will safely guide you through an embodied approach with Arts processing to explore:
- How your nervous system is making you feel out of control, scattered, anxious
- Fun Brain-training skills, that signal the brain that you’re safe (transform stress to calm)
- The importance of relationship (connection to yourself and others) to not only heal but to function at new levels of possibility!
- Ways to develop a practice of safely navigating your inner terrain on a daily basis
THE WORKSHOP IS $75. with advanced registration and $90. at the door
